Cinema establishes empathy between audience and characters, reinforcing stereotypes. The objective of this work was to analyze representations of scientists and gifted people by students in a course for gifted people, in the face of intervention through films. The research had a qualitative approach carried out through a descriptive-analytical study and the data were obtained through participatory research. Each student drew a scientist and a gifted person, in addition to writing 5 characteristics associated with each one. 23 students aged between 6 and 17 participated. As for the scientist, cognitive characteristics stood out. As for the gifted, characteristics of an attitudinal and cognitive nature occurred predominantly. The results confirm the stereotype of the scientist as a studious person, but alienated from reality. As for the gifted, above-average ability and bullying were observed. Furthermore, the reinforcement of the stereotype of the inability to establish social interactions was observed, in addition to the association between giftedness and natural sciences. The scientist's images confirm stereotypes and highlight female underrepresentation. Items are observed that corroborate the idea of the scientist as a chemistry professional. Representations of gifted people do not suggest unhappiness. The results reinforce the need for interventions that contribute to giving new meaning to the scientist's profile as well as helping to deconstruct stereotypes of gifted individuals within different spaces and even among this group.
