The school is responsible for promoting the construction of systematized knowledge and generating transformative knowledge, seeking to broaden students' worldview. The school aims to foster students' curiosity and inquisitive attitude, being the space where new differences and demands are generated. Given this context, this study was outlined around the guiding question: what are the contributions of Inquiry-Based Teaching in Biology classes? Therefore, the objective was to develop, apply and analyze an Inquiry-Based Teaching project for Biology classes. As specific objectives, the aim was to describe Inquiry-Based Teaching; analyze its efficiency in practice and demonstrate its contributions to the teaching and learning process. The project "Eureka! Inquiry-Based Teaching of Biology: Student Protagonism in the Construction of Knowledge" was developed with the aim of improving students' academic performance and overcoming learning difficulties. Using inquiry-based teaching, students are encouraged to be protagonists in the construction of scientific knowledge, developing critical thinking and autonomy. The teaching of biology through inquiry seeks to contextualize the themes in the students' daily lives, stimulating the search for answers and the construction of hypotheses. Teaching through inquiry involves the use of students' prior knowledge, formulation of hypotheses, research and construction of explanations, providing the development of skills related to the scientific method. The project aimed to awaken students' interest in learning, promoting the construction of knowledge in biology in an enjoyable way and stimulating curiosity and creativity. The biology through inquiry class is centered on the construction of hypotheses to solve problem situations, encouraging reflection and discussion about the content. Therefore, it is concluded that the project demonstrated the potential of teaching through inquiry to problematize the programmatic contents and contributed to teaching and learning. The use of investigative activities helped students to actively participate in their learning process and to understand the concepts in a meaningful way. Science teaching, especially biology, should be enjoyable and contextualized, to involve students in the construction of knowledge.
